(patented)

Wellhead Inc has developed a coiled tubing head that is completely self contained.  This allows the operator to run the coiled tubing through the slips and pack-off.  When the coiled tubing is to TD the slip is set and the seal energized.  The operator can now remove the coiled tubing unit with the well completely contained.  Additionally there is a feature that allows the operator to drill & frac through the unit prior to running the coiled tubing.

Drill Through Coil Tubing Head

Wellhead Inc’s Drill Through Coil Tubing Head Is an Integral Unit Which Allows the Operator to Drill Through  the Coiled Tubing Head and Frac.  The gate valve is closed for pressure Control to allow installation of the slip and seal arrangement.  The Coil tubing unit/BOP is bolted to the top and the gate valve opened.  The seal and slips are hidden by guides to prevent contact as the coil tubing is run under pressure. Once to depth the slips are released and set to secure the coil tubing.  The seal is now energized externally and tested to confirm pressure control has been achieved.  The coil tubing unit/BOP can be removed and the flow tee installed.  This is all done without the use of a window.
